Caregiver Circle Update...

A mid-summer barbeque was enjoyed by all on Monday, July 11. It was a time for relaxation and getting to know others in our group. Participants identified topics for future meetings that would help them with care giving responsibilities. The group also decided to take the month of August off. Our next meeting will be on Manday, September 12, 2005 at 5:30pm to 7:00 pm. Mr. Raul Mux from the Alzheimer's Association will be present to discuss the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, available resources, and answer any questions related to the topic. I look forward to meeting with y'all.

On June 13 Annette Lutz, Coordinator of the Olney Senior Program, presented "Gardening with Annette." This special presentation included creating practical garden boxes and containers for those with disabilities, age-related limitations or limitations of space. Samples of live herb plants and samples of food made with items from Annette's garden (herb bread, chicken vegetable and herb soup and a chive butter spread) were provided. The food was delicious as well as healthy! Thank you, Annette, for sharing with us the benefits to the mind, body and spirit gained from a simple garden.

Search Your Heart Program...

On June 10, Alfreda Williams presented Line Dancing. The exercise benefits of dancing were emphasized, as well as the spiritual lift we all get when we dance. Participants had a great time! Thank you, Mrs. Williams.

The Search Your Heart Program, throught the American Heart Association, has now been completed. It is hard to believe, yet it has been a full year since its beginning. Our thanks to the American Heart Associaiton, Mazola, all presenters and participants. The information and learning shared during this twelve month program has been quite valuable and, for some, life saving.
